Surgical Body Contouring

Meadows Surgical Arts offers an advanced laser-assisted liposuction and body contouring technique called SmartLipo that dramatically improves results and shortens patient recovery time, with many patients returning to normal activities the day after their procedure

SmartLipo is the most recent innovation in cosmetic body sculpting and is perfect for clients who feel they’ve tried everything to eliminate localized areas of fat. The procedure can be performed on nearly any place of the body and has proven particularly effective in the abdomen, waist, hips, and thighs. It can also be used on the arms, buttocks, knees, and ankles. Liposuction is suitable for both men and women who are in good health.

Meadows Surgical Arts is always searching for ways to improve results and shorten recovery time while minimizing patient risk. With the new laser-assisted SmartLipo procedure, clients are able to return to normal activities often very quickly because healing is significantly accelerated.

In addition to removing fat (never to return), the heat from the laser tightens the skin and tissues while creating natural collagen production, eliminating loose skin and unevenness sometimes associated with other liposuction techniques.

Dr. Meadows had exceptional experience and exceptional SmartLipo results, and he was a national physician trainer of the procedure.

Understanding the Procedure

Body contouring is performed as an outpatient procedure, usually under general anesthesia. Prior to the procedure, the area will be carefully marked to guide the procedure. Very fine cannulas are inserted through small incisions in the skin to remove excess fat. Scarring from the procedure is usually unnoticeable and continues to fade after the procedure. The final result is a smoother area with a more rapid recovery.

Understanding the Recovery

The patient wears compression garments after the surgery. These garments are removed the morning after surgery so the patient may shower and wash and dry the garments. After showering, the garments are replaced and worn day and night for the next 48 to 72 hours. Some patients need to wear the garments for four to seven days after the surgery; however, many patients choose to wear them longer because of the comfort they provide.

Certain activities are restricted to aid healing. However, most patients are able to engage in light activity the day after surgery. Normal activity can be resumed within a week or so, but some soreness should be expected. Exposure to the sun is to be avoided during healing because it may darken the small, maturing scars.
