Braley’s story of her weight loss journey is an exciting one, because her results have been fantastic, but also because her thoughts and motivation are so similar to what many others have felt. Many people attempt to lose weight and find it difficult to do so on their own. They may need more information on what works and what doesn’t, they may need assurances that it can be done, and they need to find that special motivation that works for them. For many, a little boost in energy, paired with awesome early results, is all they need to find that motivation to continue their journey beyond the first few weeks, and ultimately meet their goal weight.
Dr. Meadows and his team at Meadows Surgical Arts is here to help. We can give you that extra boost of energy, and help you achieve those early results that will kick start your journey and lead to success.
This is Braley, one of our real patients. In a year and a half, Braley has gone from an uncomfortable 266.8 lbs, to a svelte, strong woman who has almost reached her ultimate goal weight of 150 lbs… showcasing an incredible 105+ lb. weight loss using Dr. Meadows’ medical weight loss program. We’re so proud of her success!
If this is the first you have heard about Braley’s story and her incredible transformation, we would encourage you to pause here and read about:
- our introduction to Braley and what led her to our door;
- Braley’s first steps; and
- the nuts and bolts of Braley’s weight loss journey.
Now, Braley is sharing her last thoughts about what this journey has meant to her:
Did you ever have doubts that you would reach your goal, or were you encouraged with each weigh in?
The only person I’ve ever doubted was me! Caitlin was absolutely my rock through all of this, along with the entire staff at Meadows Surgical Arts. The encouragement and compliments have been never-ending, and when you’re a doubter, you need that!
Did you ever think of quitting? Did you “cheat”?
I never once thought about quitting! Did I cheat? I would have to say, “Yes,” but I’m only human, and what I mean by cheating is eating something I knew I didn’t need, or eating something I knew I would regret later. It only took me a few times to realize it wasn’t worth it! That few seconds of satisfaction was not worth my sweat and tears from the past months to a year.
Were the people in your life encouraging, or did you have issues with doubters or those who may have been jealous of your success?
You certainly find out who your real friends are when going through such a life-changing experience. I have had people that stood by me the entire time, keeping me motivated, and staying positive for me. And then I’ve had people literally stop talking to me. I’ve had rumors spread about me, saying I had surgery. I get offended about that, because I’ve worked my butt off to get where I am! I have nothing against surgery, but surgery is not how I lost my weight! Determination, tears (and lots of them!), sweat, and even sometimes blood: that’s how I got where I am!
Once you hit your new goal weight, do you think you will be happy with your body? Are you pleased with the results?
I don’t ever think I will be happy with my body; I’m pretty sure a number won’t change that. Even though in clothes and in pictures I can see the >100 lb. weight difference, but when it’s just me and the mirror, I still see That Girl, the one that weighed 266 lbs! I’m sure that I will always be self-conscious, and I’m sure I will always find ways to better myself.
Sometimes those who lose a considerable amount of weight find that they want to refine certain areas… they may have some loose skin, or some pockets of fat that they haven’t been able to spot reduce. Are you planning any procedures to refine your results, or are you happy where you’re at? And if you’re planning any procedures, which one(s)?
I have so much extra skin! I would like to have a tummy tuck and a breast lift! I’m so tired of having to wear 3-4 pairs of undies (including compression ones), and 2-3 bras, just so I can stay supported!
How do you feel about your experience with medical weight loss at Meadows Surgical Arts?
I have come across a lot of people in my life, but I have to say that Kathryn Meadows is absolutely amazing! I have never met someone like her! Not too long ago while in her office, as we were talking about my journey and looking back on it, she just starting crying… crying tears of happiness! I was blown away at how humble this amazing lady was, she was beyond happy for me! She couldn’t tell me enough how proud she was of me! Without me even realizing it, I had her cheering for me the whole time! I honestly couldn’t say enough about these sweet people! I can never repay what they have given me, with just a little shove, and support they gave me… me again!
Is there anything that you think is important for people to know or understand as they embark on their own medical weight loss journey?
If I could go back and do it all again, I would in a heartbeat! No one really knows how humbling an experience like this can truly be, in all aspects of your life!
Isn’t she inspiring? We feel blessed to have had the opportunity to be a part of Braley’s story, and to have been instrumental in helping her to achieve success in her weight loss journey.
