Luscious lips. They bring to mind the Gibson Girl of the early 1900s, Twiggy in the 1960s, Julia Roberts in the 1990s, and Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner today. While thin lips have had their time in history (think Heather Locklear in the 1980s), full, luscious lips have stood the test of time as the lips that are most desired.
Whether we’re born with full lips or thin, the reality is that over time, our lips will get thinner, and they will get lip lines. Thinning skin and a decrease in fat in the lip area will appear to “shrink” the lips, while a lifetime of moving the lips will produce lip lines, looking much like the spokes of a bicycle wheel as they emanate outwards from the edges of the lips. Smoking and sun exposure will only add to those effects. Rejuvenation of the lips through lip augmentation will plump them up and create a bigger, fuller, sexier pout.
If plumping your lips is a new thing for you, you may want to start with temporary lip augmentation using dermal fillers. At Meadows Surgical Arts, we use VOLBELLA® to add volume to the lips and soften vertical lines. Volbella is not permanent, giving you the opportunity to determine the exact level of volume replacement desired.
When you are ready for a more permanent solution, you may choose to plump your lips with permanent lip implants. These silicone-grade, fusiform-shaped implants (wider in the middle, tapering at both ends) are pliable and very natural looking once placed. During surgery, Dr. Meadows will place these implants in your lips through small incisions inside the corners of your mouth, in as little as twenty minutes. You will have full, sexy lips that are always luscious.
Recently, Dr. Meadows performed a Permanent Lip Augmentation on a female patient in her early thirties who had previously been treated with temporary fillers and was ready for a permanent solution. The surgery was performed under general anesthesia at Meadows Surgical Arts’ AAAHC accredited surgical facility in Commerce, GA. As most of our patients are unfamiliar with what goes on in the operating room and what this type of surgery may involve, we filmed this surgery to give you an idea of what to expect with a Permanent Lip Augmentation.
