They say hindsight is 20/20.
We’ve all experienced that moment: when we look back at the actions of our past, and experience a pang of regret… a wish that we had not taken the action that we did, that we could take it back or change the consequences. Regret is a challenging emotion to overcome, yet our society is always encouraging us not to look back, to eschew regret and plunge forward, oftentimes without learning from our mistakes. Occasionally, consequences force us to relive our mistakes, and we feel them more deeply.
For many, one of those follies of our youth may be a tattoo. Whether we’ve chosen to be inked for love, luck, branding, as a rite of passage, or simply on a whim, we may have later regretted our tattoos, without any recourse. In our current culture, times and tastes are constantly changing, and we may wish that our personal artwork could change as well.
Tattoo removal has been tried for as long as inking of the skin has been popular. Frequent motivators for removal include significant life events (wedding, divorce, or baby), a new job, or difficulty finding clothing to cover it. Early forms of tattoo removal included injection of wine, lemon juice, garlic, or worse. Later, dermabrasion and skin grafts were tried as crude but quick means, but could easily result in scarring. Laser tattoo removal began in the sixties, but has always been a slow and painful process, frequently requiring twelve or more treatments to break up the ink in order for the body to eliminate it. Fortunately, technology has come much further; at Meadows Surgical Arts, we use laser technology to create microscopic openings in the skin that allow the ink to escape through the surface. Our laser treatments are done with local anesthesia to minimize patient discomfort, and safety is always a priority.
It isn’t often that we have the opportunity to look back at our past, at one of our lesser moments in our personal history, and actually reverse the consequences. If you’ve grown tired of a tattoo, today’s cosmetic laser treatment is the perfect solution to get rid of it. With advancements in laser technology, tattoos that were once considered permanent can now be completely removed . Through advancements in tattoo removing technology, our lasers treat both amateur and professional tattoos, dark and large tattoos, as well as permanent make up tattoos with fewer treatments and less invasion. We’ve got you covered… or, in this case, uncovered.
